Charge distributions in parallel plate avalanche chambers

  • 1. Leicester Univ. (UK). Dept. of Physics
  • 2. Brookhaven National Lab., Upton, NY (USA)

Description

A simple method is described for calculating the induced and total charge distributions on the electrodes of a PPAC. Such information is required in order to predict the differential non-linearity of specific position encoding systems. Examples of theoretical distributions are compared with some experimental data. Changes in the distributions as a function of time are explored. (orig.)
