Beam driven plasma wake-field acceleration
Description
General problems of high gradient plasma wake-field acceleration are discussed. The mechanism of electric field excitation in a plasma by ultrarelativistic electron driver as well as a long-term evolution of the driver itself are qualitatively described. The idea of sequential acceleration based on a helical open-quotes delay-lineclose quotes for driver beam train is proposed. It is shown that on the part of physics there are no prohibitions to build a full scale plasma wake-field accelerator of TeV energy range. copyright 1997 American Institute of Physics
