Spectroscopic study for the measurement of (H..O) bond coupling energy by using infrared ray
Description
The present work includes a spectroscopic study for an IR. region of fundamental frequency of (O-H) strechting bond which belongs to the following proton donators: (CH3COOH, CCl3COOH, CF3COOH, HCOOH). By using solvents as proton acceptors of different power and suitable concentrations under constant temperature, thirty-one (31) spectra were observed for OH stretching frequencies. An increase in the OH length caused a shift of the fundamental frequency towards a lower wavenumber bonding. The value of this shift (ΔνOH) is being considered as measure of hydrogen bridge produced. By using this equation ΔE=0.323 (Δν-40)1/2. The determining of energy increament (ΔE) is an achievable procedure. We also attempted to find experimental relation between ΔE and νOH. 21 tabs.; 58 figs.; 56 refs
