Description

Catalysts have been prepared for the reduction of SO2 to elemental sulfur by synthesis gas. A catalyst allows to obtain more than 97% yield of elemental sulfur with a single-stage reactor at 540 degrees C. A lifetime test has been successfully performed. The mass balance of sulfur and carbon has been checked. The effect of H2S, COS, and H2O has been studied
