Magnetic properties of C14 laves phase Ti(Fe1-xVx)2 and Ti(Fe1-xCrx)2 with x<0.5

Description
The C14 Laves phase TiFe2 is an antiferromagnet with a Neel temperature of about 285 K. The magnetic properties and the phase diagrams of V and Cr substituted systems for Fe have been investigated using magnetization and V-NMR measurements. The antiferromagnetism in TiFe2 is suppressed by both the substitutions. In the V substituted case the magnetic state changes to ferromagnetism (0.15<x<0.4) through a coexistent state of antiferro- and ferromagnetism (around x=0.1). In the Cr case the antiferromagnetism is kept till around x=0.3, while spontaneous magnetization appears in 0.075<x<0.2 at low temperatures under the antiferromagnetic order. The origins of the magnetic changes by the substitutions are discussed
