Description
The methods of measuring the natural and artificial radioactivity of the atmosphere are described and the results obtained at Saclay, Paris and Val Joyeux since 1955 are presented. Correlations between the natural radioactivity and meteorological elements (temperature, wind direction and velocity, precipitation) are shown. The values of artificial radioactivity measured in the air and in the precipitation are particularly significant in the latter; the mean values in precipitation for two years being 50 times the maximum permissible dose. This radioactivity comes particularly from the stratosphere where it accumulated since the beginning of nuclear test explosions. On decrit les methodes des mesures de la radioactivite naturelle et artificielle de l'atmosphere et on donne les resultats obtenus depuis 1955 a Saclay, Paris et au Val Joyeux. Des relations entre la radioactivite naturelle et les conditions meteorologiques (temperature, direction et intensite du vent, precipitation) sont mises en evidence. La radioactivite artificielle mesuree dans l'air et dans les precipitations est surtout importante dans ces dernieres ou les valeurs moyennes portant sur deux annees sont 50 fois la dose maximum permise. Cette radioactivite provient surtout de la stratosphere ou elle s'accumule depuis le debut des explosions nucleaires.
