Description
Concerning the radiation deterioration of elastomers, in its test, reducing of the irradiation duration is required. The comparison has been made between the long-duration, low dose rate irradiation and the reduced-duration irradiation (with an electron beam). (1) In acryl rubber and fluorine-containing rubber, the results of time acceleration irradiation are not in agreement with the results of room-temperature, low dose rate irradiation. In considering the large difference between the irradiation in the unoxidized state and the room-temperature low dose rate irradiation, the difference in the former elastomer may be taken to be small. (2) In ethylene-propylene rubber, concerning the deviation of its characteristic values from the reference levels, the influence of the scattering of the values in the unirradiated state upon the values in the irradiated state may be significant. This may contribute to quantitative study on the said difference. (Mori, K.)
