Low level determination of pesticides in environmental water samples using solid-phase extraction and high performance liquid chromatography

  • 1. Nuclear Inst. of Agriculture and Biology, Faisalabad (Pakistan)

Description

A multi residue analytical method for pesticides in water that utilizes liquid sold extraction, commonly referred to as solid-phase extraction (SPE) with octadecyl bounded silica cartridges (C/sub 18/ BSc's) followed by reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with UV-absorption detection was developed. Recoveries of most of pesticides were greater than 81% with C/sub 18/ cartridges from spiked water at 100 and 200 ppb levels. Low background in silica based adsorbent allows detection limits of 0.10-0.25 ppb levels. low background in silica based adsorbed allows detection limits of 0.10-0.25 ppb for the monitored pesticides.
