High-spin states in 24Mg

Description
The 12C(16O,α)24Mg reaction has been used to study states in 24Mg at excitation energies up to 27 MeV. Total widths have been measured for 34 states. Alpha-branching ratios, and α-α angular correlations have been measured for 12 states above 19.5 MeV. Candidates for 10+ and 12+ states in 24Mg are deduced from a comparison with shell-model predictions. (author)
