The limiting levels for the WWER fuel element failures is determined by such factors as the NPP economical efficiency and radiation safety of its operation. It is advisable to regulate the maximum permissible number of failed fuel elements in the reactor core basing on the really achieved level of their safety. 11 refs., 1 fig., 3 tabs
