Radiotherapy for inoperable lung cancer

1973 through 1980, 68 patients with lung cancer were seen. Radiotherapy was given to thirty-five inoperable patients, with 60Co or a linear accelerator and a total dose of 6,000 rad. Chemotherapy of 5-Fu was also used in combination with radiotherapy. The five-year survival rate in eight patients underwent radical operation alone was 83%. The one-year and two-year survival rates in those who received radiotherapy were 61% and 18% respectively. (Ueda, J.)
