Description
Whereas the occurrence of a peak oil has been delayed by the emergence of shale oils at the beginning of the 21. century, it now appears that it is getting actually closer. In this book, the authors, through an analysis of geological resources and of economic limitations of the oil model, explain how we are unavoidably heading towards a reduction of oil production, in fact during the next decade. While defining a precise date is not their objective, the authors discuss the consequences of this production decrease for our societies which are irrigated by oil. They outline some already visible consequences in some producing countries. From the consumers' point of view, they state that the risk of oil supply disruptions may actually occur sooner than thought. They discuss solutions and perspectives
