Description

The authors report the assessment of the feasibility of a dose escalation in ENT by using the Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) on the basis of doses received by organs at risk and sane tissues. Seven patients have been treated with two different strategies regarding dose prescription. Dose is delivered in 35 fractions according to a standard strategy and to a 'dose painting' strategy which comprises two additional dose levels. Treatment plans have been computed. Received doses have been measured and compared. Measurements with thermo-luminescent sensors have been performed on an anthropomorphic phantom to assess the dose outside of the treatment field.
