The nuclear issue in Italy under the light of the French experience

As the Italian government declared its intention to launch a programme of construction of nuclear plants during the next decade, this article examines the French nuclear programme from the point of view of energy security as well as from the environmental point of view. It sheds a light on benefits and drawbacks brought by nuclear energy, from the possibility to reduce oil dependence to resulting pollutions. Thus, completed by some economic assessments, this note proposes a critical view on propositions related to the Italian nuclear programme
