Potentialities of X-ray investigation in the diagnosis of penetrating duodenal ulcers

The authors presented the results of an X-ray study of 110 patients operated on as per plan for duodenal ulcer. The purpose of the study was to improve and systematize roentgenosemiotics of penetrating ulcers. Clinical, X-ray and surgical correlations were made in 2 groups of 55 patients with penetrating and uncomplicated ulcers. A statistical analysis of the data obtained made it possible to reveal significant differences in the frequency of the determination of a complex of X-ray symptoms in both groups and to define the main and supplementary signs of penetration. A possibility of establishing a tendency of penetration in an X-ray study with relation to a site of ulcer was investigated
