Breakdown of exchange approximation for cross-polarized excitons in carbon nanotubes

Description

Cross-polarized excitons in carbon nanotubes where polarization is perpendicular to the tube axis are calculated in a Tamm-Dancoff-type approximation and the results are compared with those obtained in the self-consistent-field method. For the lowest exciton, the oscillator strength for the optical absorption peak is considerably reduced and the energy is overestimated.
