Observations of the profile of the Ca II infrared triplet line lambda8498 in late-type stars

  • 1. Washburn Observatory, University of Wisconsin, Madison

Description

The profiles of the Ca ii infrared triplet line A8498, observed at a resolution (FWHM) of 0.28 A for 28 stars of spectral type F8 and later, are presented. Although there does not appear to be any correlation of line parameters with the strength of the emission observed in the H- and K-lines, the profile is clearly sensitive to the luminosity of the star. Subject headings: Ca ii emission - late-type stars - line profiles - luminosities - spectra, infrared
