Light output response of GSO(Ce) crystal to intermediate-energy heavy-charged particles
- 1. Kyushu Univ., Dept. of Applied Quantum Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Fukuoka (Japan)
Description
We investigated the light output response of GSO(Ce) crystals with respect to 4He and 12C particles over a wide energy range up to a few GeV. The incidence energy of 4He was from 143 to 718 MeV, 12C from 685 to 3442 MeV. Experiments were performed at the HIMAC, National Institute of Radiological Sciences. The experimental results for light output response showed good linearity and no evidence of secondary quenching phenomenon at the high energy range. The energy dependence of the light output was interpreted by Birks' formula in a wide energy range. The parameters in Birks' formula were independent of particle species for p, d, 4He, 12C. (author)
