On the angles between the axis of magnetic dipole and the axis of rotation of pulsars
Description
A critical survey of known methods for the determination of an angle (β) between the magnetic field and rotation axis of pulsars is given. More accurate estimates of this angle are obtained on the basis of observed profile widths for 282 pulsars and observed position angles for 63 pulsars. Polarization data and structure of observed profiles gave the possibility to estimate the angle β for pulsars with interpulses: 5 pulsars have small β(< 10 deg), for 3 pulsars β >or approx. 90 deg. In addition 4 pulsars with small β and two pulsars with β >or approx. 80 deg may have interpulses or interpulse radiation
