Description

A void phenomena occurred in the delay chamber when operation reactor should be studied systematically. The assesment is based on physical and thermal properties of water including P-T correlation, pressure loss ΔP and gas-liquid system respectively. Assesment result determines that high ΔP at inlet suction pump causes scram of primary pump to prevent cavitation condition of coolant negative pressure at level less than -0.15 bar. Nevertheless, scram signal may be avoid by decreasing the primary cooling flow. Void volume in the delay chamber is occurred because the coolant negative pressure approaches the saturation curve. Saturation line should be avoided through decreasing the ΔP until 0.116 bar or decreasing the coolant temperature and obtained single phase condition. High temperature is caused by high power level of the reactor as well as degradation of the secondary cooling performance. best solution is to conduct cleaning-up of the heat exchanger and improve the cooling tower performance as well
