Thermodynamics basis of electrochemical synthesis of tungsten, molybdenum and boron carbides

Description
To substantiate theoretically electrochemical synthesis of refractory metal carbides (WC, MoC, TiC), boron carbide and selection of systems for the synthesis a thermodynamical calculation of decomposition voltage of tungstates, molybdates, titanates, carbonates, borates of alkali and alkaline-earth metals and halides, oxides of refractory metals is carried out. The data obtained are presented depending on the temperature. The change of decomposition voltage of tungstates and carbonates of alkali and alkaline earth metals depending on basicity of the melt at 1000 K is considered. On the basis of the data obtained systems for the synthesis of refractory metal carbides are selected
