Radiolysis of concentrated solution of nitrate and formate
Description
We have studied the influence of specific scavengers of solvated electron, the potassium nitrate and of OH radical, the sodium formate on the decomposition on water submitted to γ rays. By the analysis of the final products we have been able to determine the radical and molecular yields in function of the concentration of the scavengers and compare their evolution with the theoretical prediction of the spurs model. We have also studied the influence of oxygen and the importance of the direct effect of γ rays on the scavengers. The results show that the yields of the molecular products H2 and H2O2 and the atomic hydrogen yield decrease in function of the concentration of the scavengers in conformity with the prevision of the spurs model, while the yield of solvated electron and OH radical increases. The total yield of decomposition of water increases until the value of 4,6±0,3 (author)
Abstract (French)
L'on a etudie l'influence de capteurs specifiques de l'electron solvate, le nitrate de potassium et du radical OH, le formiate de sodium sur la decomposition de l'eau soumise au rayonnement γ. En dosant tous les produits formes, l'on a pu determiner les rendements radicalaires et moleculaires ainsi que le rendement de decomposition de l'eau en fonction de la concentration de solutes et comparer leur evolution a celle predite par le modele des grappes. L'on a etudie egalement l'influence de l'oxygene ainsi que l'importance de l'effet direct du rayonnement sur les solutes dissous. Les resultats montrent que les rendements des produits moleculaires H2 et H2O2 et de l'atome H decroissent en fonction de la concentration des capteurs comme le prevoit le modele des grappes. L'on observe egalement une augmentation du rendement de l'electron solvate et du radical OH. Enfin le rendement de decomposition de l'eau augmente pour atteindre la valeur de 4,6±0,3. (auteur)Files
