DIN 25422:2023-10-Draft: Storage and keeping of other radioactive materials - Requirements on protection against radiation, fire and theft to be met by storage facilities

This document contains safety-related specifications within the meaning of the Act on Protection against the Harmful Effects of Ionising Radiation (Radiation Protection Act) and the Ordinance on Protection against the Harmful Effects of Ionising Radiation (Radiation Protection Ordinance), insofar as the storage of other radioactive substances is concerned. This document is limited to requirements arising from the special conditions for the storage of other radioactive substances. The otherwise applicable technical rules, in particular those of radiation protection and construction, are not affected by this. The classification of other radioactive substances for theft protection is based on the evaluation of the security of radioactive substances to be protected using the HRQ values of the StrlSchV as a basis. This document was prepared by the Working Committee NA 062-07-62 AA Radiation Protection Devices in the DIN Standards Committee for Materials Testing (NMP). Compared to DIN 25422:2021-05 the following changes have been made: a) normative references updated; b) abbreviation revised; c) exemption in 6.1.2 has been omitted; d) tables 2 and 3 revised; e) 6.3 completely revised, tables 5 and 6 have been omitted; f) 6. 4 with the sub-sections revised; g) 7.2.3 on the exceptions revised; h) 7.3 revised; i) 7.5.2 and the corresponding table revised and a new table included; j) table in 7.5.3 revised; k) Table of permitted solutions and alternative solutions revised; l) 8.2 extended by a sub-section; m) editorial revisions.
