When is simultaneity transitive in special relativity?
Description
This letter discusses some aspects of simultaneity in special relativity and addresses the problem of when simultaneity is transitive with reference to the clock paradox. A formal analogy is drawn between electrons and phonons in solids, by considering energy dispersion curves as a teaching aid. The relevant integral-transform equations are solved using a numerical matrix technique. (UK)
