AP1000 passive nuclear power technology and project progress
Description
AP1000, a Generation I nuclear power technology, characterized by the passive safety system and modular construction, was introduced into China at the beginning of the 2000 s when China determined to implement the Generation I nuclear power self-reliance development strategy. Fruitful achievements in the digestion, absorption and re-innovation of Generation I nuclear power technology have been gained in the past decade. First units of self-reliance program supporting projects are currently ready for initial fuel loading. In addition, the condition of mass construction for AP1000 series units has been fulfilled since AP1000 passive technology and modular construction were applied and proved in the self-reliance program supporting projects, which will enter operation phase soon.
