Solvent extraction-flame-photometric investigation of solvation of cadmium ions by methylisobutylketone during extraction from iodide system

Description

In a study on the lithim salt of cadmium-iodide acid the bilogarithmic technique operating with the intensity of the alkali metal light emission is shown to be good for the determination of solvate numbers of alkali metal-halides being extracted. Cadmium is extracted from the iodide system by methylisobuthylketone (MIBK) in the form of a neutral solvated molecule CdI2x4MIBK and an ionic associate Li2[CdI4]x10MIBK. With the MIBK+n-octane mixtures the distribution coefficients of CdI2 and Li2[CdI4] increase with the content of the active component, but the Li2[CdI4] coefficient increases more rapidly
