Short-lived radioisotope production systems

  • 1. The Cyclotron Corporation, Berkeley, CA (USA)

Description

Three target systems using protons as the bombarding particles are described. They are as follows: model 4049 radiogas processing systems which utilizes a 26 MeV proton beam to produce 15O, 13N and 11C gases; model 4075 Ammonia target system/insertable which uses a proton-irradiated water target to produce 13N nitrates which are reduced to 13N-ammonia via Devarda's alloy. Model fluorine 18 target system which uses the high yield (p,n) reaction on 18O-oxygen gas to produce 18F in a nickel target chamber
