Description
In-pile fuel failure experiments are being conducted in the NSRR program. The test capsules to contain the test rods have to be designed to withstand large pressure pulses generated at fuel failure. Application of a dynamic elastro-plastic analysis is being planned in the design of test capsule. Out of pile tests using slow explosive have been conducted on the pressure wave propagation in the cylindrical vessel. An analysis has been performed to interpret the pressure wave propagation in the vessel. (author)
