Experience on the preparation of (U0.47Pu0.53)O2 microspheres by internal gelation process
- 1. Fuel Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
We reported the preparation of hard opaque (U0.5,Pu0.5) O2 microspheres over a range of feed compositions within the column length available in a standard glove box, which didn't survive after drying at 100 deg C. It was found that the use of pre-heated HMTA-urea solution helps to produce crack free (U,Pu)O2 microspheres due to the growth of crystallites. This study is aimed at optimization of parameters for the preparation of (U0.47Pu0.53) O2 microspheres
