Mockup of fuel element with burnable absorber

Description
The mockup is mainly designed for testing neutron physics characteristics of experimental or zero power reactors. Each fuel pellet inside the mockup contains two or more coaxial layers, each with a different concentration of the nuclides of the burnable absorber. Also the concentrations may differ of the fissionable nuclide in the individual layers of each pellet. The dimensions of the layers, the concentrations of the nuclides of the burnable absorber, and the concentrations of the fissionable nuclide may differ from pellet to pellet. The mockup allows modelling the degree and the profile of the burnup of the absorber in a fuel element with required accuracy in both the radial and the axial directions. (J.B.). 2 figs
