Theoretical calculations of the radiative and non radiative transition probabilities of F-centers in ionic crystals

  • 1. Universidad Michacana, Morelia, Michacana, Mexico

Description

Although the radiative and radiationless processes of the F-centers pose a very old problem, there are questions that the theory cannot answer satisfactorily. A lot of theoretical models have been developed by physicists in order to explain the fundamental experimental results obtained in the laboratories. In this paper we have calculated analytically the radiative and nonradiative transition probabilities (rates) on the basis of the microscopic model developed by Stampf, et al. The numerical results, which we obtained for the F-center in NaCl have been compared with the experimental results measured by Honda and Tomura. In order to do this we needed the radiative, nonradiative and ionization transition rates in the formula which represents the quantum yield for the luminescence for the above mentioned color centers. W/su s/ is the radiative transition rate W/su k/ is the nonradiative transition rate W/su i/ is the ionization transition rate
