Ozone combined with collagenase in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation

Description
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Ozone combined with collagenase in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation. Methods: 20 patients with lumber interverterbral disc herniation were treated by injecting ozone and collagenase into herniated nucleus pulposus. Results: Through a follow- up of 3 mon and 6 mon, the result showed excellent in 12 cases (account for 60%), good in 7 (35%) and poor in 1 (5%), with satisfactory rate of 95%, which were based on modified MacNab curative effect criteria. No serious complication occurred, such as injury of dural sac, nerve and blood vessel. Conclusion: Combination therapy of ozone and collagenase is an effective and safe approach in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation. (authors)
