Comparative value of computer tomography and lymphography in evaluating the spread of the malignant process in patients with testicular tumours

A group of 45 patients with testicular tumours was analysed after computer tomography. In 22 of them lymphography was performed also. The diagnostic possibilities of both methods were compared. It was found that they were mutually supplementary. Computer tomography was more useful in advanced stages of the disease and for evaluating the extent of involvement of the lymph nodes which is important for planning treatment and evaluating its effects. Lymphography makes possible often early diagnosis of changes when the lymph nodes are not yet recognizable in computer tomography or when the results of computer tomography are uncertain. (author)
