Description
Hydrazone of iso nicotinic acid hydrazone (INH) were synthesized by condensing various aromatic aldehyde and ketones with INH and screened for biological properties viz. anti tubercular and anti bacterial properties. The interaction of these hydrazone with different thorium (IV) and dioxouranium salts resulted in the formation of ThX4.2L (X=Cl, Br, NO3 or NCS); Th X3.3L (X=I or ClO4); UO2X2.2L (X=Cl,Br,I,NCS,NO3 or CH3COO) or UO2(ClO4)2.3L. (L=hydrazone of INH). These complexes were characterized through elemental analysis, molecular weight, electrical conductance and infrared. The IR spectral evidence suggest these ligands act as neutral bidentate ligands and coordinate through amido oxygen and azomethine N-atom forming a five membered chelate ring. The co-ordination number of Th(IV) in these complexes in 6,8 or 12 and of U(VI) is 8 to 10 depending on the nature of anions. Thermal properties have also been discussed. (author). 10 refs
