Functional evaluation of the left ventricle by means of digital subtraction angiography

Description

The discharge fraction of the left ventricle is evaluated by DSA on the basis of 40 patients' data. The contrast medium was applied intravenously in 20 cases, all other patients received small quantum by intraventricular injection. Results are compared with those of standard angiograms. A clinically useful correlation of the discharge function via the two injection methods is explained. DSA can supply useful information on the left ventricle function and thus helps to overcome some problems encountered in conventional angiography. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Die linksventrikulaere Auswurffraktion wurde anhand der digitalen Subtraktionsangiogramme von 40 Patienten beurteilt. In 20 Faellen wurde das Kontrastmittel intravenoes gegeben; den anderen Patienten wurde eine geringe Dosis intraventrikulaer injiziert. In allen Faellen wurden die Ergebnisse mit den Resultaten der linksventrikulaeren Standard-Angiogramme verglichen. Eine klinisch nutzvolle Korrelation ergab sich bei der Auswurffraktion fuer beide Verfahren der Kontrastmittelinjektion. Die digitale Subtraktionstechnik kann hilfreiche Informationen ueber die Linksventrikelfunktion liefern und dabei einige der Probleme ueberwinden, die bei der konventionellen Angiographie auftreten.
