Description

Dimensions of the Chernobyl accident was analysed on the base of activity released, number of highly exposed workers and population exposure. It was shown that released activity is many times higher in comparison with previous accidents in Kyshtym, Windscale and Three Mile Island. The number of overexposed workers with fatal consequences during Chernobyl was a few times higher than in all previous accidents on nuclear facilities. Estimation of expected fatal number cases among people living in north hemisphere on the base of the collective effective dose was criticized. Some authentic facts from the active phase of accident and few years later are given also. 23 refs.; 2 tabs
