Phonon anomalies in uranium chalcogenides

  • 1. Dept. of Physics, Barkatullah Univ., Bhopal (India)

Description

The phonon dispersion relation in uranium chalcogenides has been calculated using a three-body force rigid-shell model, which includes long-range three-body interactions resulting from charge transfer effects. The predictions of this model are compared with the experimental neutron scattering results. The model predicts that strong many-body forces are responsible for the optical phonon anomaly. (orig.)
