Description
High Current Injector is a future frontier for the production of a few hundreds of microampere currents of ion beams of mass < 120 a.m.u. at IUAC, New Delhi. It will be used as an injector to the existing super conducting quarter wave resonator linear accelerator. It consists of high temperature superconducting ECR ion source, RFQ, IHDTL resonators and low beta superconducting quarter wave resonators to accelerate heavy ions having A/q ≤ 6. The design and fabrication of compact diagnostic system has been successfully carried out to measure the beam current, profile, position, spot size and bunch length especially at the entrance of DTL cavities. The compactness is preferred to preserve the transverse and longitudinal emittances. The diagnostic system has been tested with various ion beams and the system is validated on various operational aspects. Here, the design, fabrication and test results will be presented. (author)
