Sorption of platinum metals by mono- and bidentate weakly basic anionites

Description
The sorption of the chloride complexes of Pd(2), Pt(4), Rh(3), Ir(3), Ir(4) and Ru(3) was studied in statistic conditions using the method of individual weighed portions. The complexes were from muriatic solutions, and the study involved the use of mono- and bidentate sulphur- and nitrogen-containing sorbents prepared on a porous chloromethy-lated copolymer of styrene- and divinyl benzene. Sulphur-containing sorbents were found to possess lower sorption ability against platinum, rhodium and iridium than nitrogen-containing sorbents and bidentate sorbents were found to possess higher sorption ability than monodentate sorbents. At transition to sulphur-nitrogen-containing sorbents, Pt- and Ir(3) sorption remained the same, while that of Pd, Ru and Rh increased. In the functional group sorbents with ethyl groups were less reactive than those with methyl groups. Bifunctional sorbents with sulphoxide sulphur were distinguished by lower sorption capacity than those with sulphide. Amino polystyrene and dimethyl-amino ethylthiomethyl polystyrene were shown to possess the best sorption ability against platinum metals
