Application of X fluorescence to the analytical determination of trace elements in fluorinated glasses and rocks
Description
In this thesis, the author first presents X fluorescence as a method of analysis of solids with its general principles, some theoretical recalls regarding absorption, emission and fluorescence intensity, a focus on the matrix effect, a discussion of issues related to the analysis of trace elements, and a discussion of various interferences (instrument-related, spectral, and by secondary excitation). Then, he reports the study of the trace presence of yttrium and niobium in ocean rocks, and discusses this presence in earth crust and mantle.
