Aspects of charm production in the decay of B mesons
Description
Two-body decays of the B meson, primarily to charmed meson and pion, are observed in Upsilon(4S) decays using tracks found in the central drift chamber of the CLEO detector. Presented here are both direct and indirect measurements of these modes, the direct measurements involving complete or partial reconstruction of the decaying B meson, and the indirect measurement employing the single-particle momentum spectrum. The results of these investigations are compared with some theoretical predictions. Charmed mesons are also seen in inclusive production from B decay, and the momentum spectra are obtained. These spectra are compared qualitatively with the expectations derived from the spectator model of the decay
