Impact of bulk nuclear capacity on generating system reliability

Description

The impact of bulk nuclear capacity on the evaluation of the reliability of a complex generation system is presented and discussed. The effect of refueling constraints of such ''energy limited'' plants on system planning is examined by using various risk indices. Some application examples consider quantitatively the effect of various parameters (percentage of installed nuclear capacity, duration of fuel charge, interaction between scheduling of nuclear refueling and maintenance of other units) with the aims to show the impact for planners of a correct approach to the problem and to bring up areas which need further work
