The domestic gas market. Report, together with the proceedings of the Committee. Session 1994-95. 1. report

Description

This document is the first report of the House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee on the domestic gas market in the United Kingdom in particular consumers who use less than 2500 therms per year, for whom British Gas currently has a monopoly of supply. The report seeks to address this issue of liberalising the low-usage end of the market, according to Government policy. A number of recommendations are made to accompany such a change, and many of these seek to ensure that certain groups, notably the elderly and people with disabilities are not disadvantaged financial or in terms of supply by the opening up of the gas market. Close scrutiny and monitoring of these changes are also advocated. (UK)
