Asymptotic solution of the transport equation of linearly polarized X- and gamma rays
Description
The transport equation in the representation which allows to express all the parameters of the equation with spherical angles is considered. It is shown that this equation turns into the known equation of optics in the low-energy limit. The asymptotic solution of the transport equation of the plane-parallel problem with spatial azimuth symmetry is obtained. It is concluded that in many cases for the calculation of radiation transport even if source radiation is a linearly polarized one it can be used the equation without an accoUnt for polarization effects of a nonpolarized source
