Hydraulic and tracer experiments in fractured granite for high-level waste site evaluation
- 1. Dept. of Hydrology and Water Resources, Univ. of Arizona, Tucson, AZ
Description
A field site in fractured granite was established by the University of Arizona near Oracle, Arizona, under the auspices of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to perform hydraulic and dispersive properties to be used in generic research for site evaluation in licensing. Phase I of the project involved the drilling and testing of four holes. Drilling was completed January, 1981; the holes are located along a line and are spaced 30, 20, and 50 feet apart; the depth of each hole is about 300 feet. With the cooperation of the U.S. Geological Survey, the depth and orientation of fractures were mapped by down-hole televiewer (four holes), and by examination of core (one hole)
