Clinton P. Anderson Meson Physics Facility and its operational safety program
Description
The Clinton P. Anderson Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory consists of a medium-energy, high-intensity linear proton accelerator; experimental areas designed to support a multidisciplined program of research and practical applications; and support facilities for accelerator operations and the experimental program. The high-intensity primary and secondary beams at LAMPF and the varied research program create many interesting and challenging problems for the Health Physics staff. This paper will present a brief overview of LAMPF and will describe the Operational Safety Program, with emphasis on the radiological safety and health physics aspects
