Legal problems and their resolution in the licensing, decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear facilities

Creators

Description

The general licence issued on 30 June 1995 for the decommissioning of the Greifswald nuclear power station (KGR) laid the legal basis for further phases of the decommissioning process of the entire plant, so that further licences are only required for those plant components and buildings not covered by the first licence. As a consequence, any review by the nuclear licensing authority at a later date, of licensing requirements based on substantive law must be justified by availability of novel scientific and technical knowledge applicable to the activities requiring a licence.
