Thermonuclear device

Description

Liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductive coils are used for the coil system, and blanket, shields and coils are cooled by means of liquid nitrogen. Accordingly, the structure of the reactor consitution and the cooling system can be simplified to obtain a thermonuclear device of high plasma controllability. That is, the vacuum vessel, the coil system such as toroidal coils composed of liquid-nitrogen cooled superconductive coils, poloidal coils, trnsformer coils, divertor coils, etc. and the blanket are incorporated into shields. Cooling pipeways for cooling the coil system, blanket, shield and divertor are disposed to the inside for each of them. Since such a structure is required only for the liquid nitrogen cooling system, thermal shields are no more necessary. Since the bore diameter of the toroidal coils can be reduced and the poloidal coils can be put closer to the plasmas, the plasma controllability can be improved. In addition, the structure can be simplified to improve the earthquake proofness and reduce the cost. (K.M.)
