Mechanism of corpuscular-atmospheric relations

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Astronomicheskij Sovet

Description

Attention is given to the results of the Brazilian scientists who concluded that in the region of the southern magnetic anomaly a ''dumping'' of high energy particles from the radiation belts towards the stratosphere takes place immediately after the geomagnetic storms. Assuming that in the northerm hemisphere of the Earth similar processes are taking place and using numerical date of the Brazilian and other investigations, it is shown that the totat flux of energy reteased during one ''dumping'' can reach 1024 ergs. Attention is also paid to the following very important fact: the main climatic depressions of the northern hemisphere (North-America, Iceland, Asiatic, Aleutian depressions) coincide with the main magnetic anomalies of the northern hemisphere of the Globe. Therefore, as it is expected, the above-mentioned ''dumpings'' of energetic particles play the principal role just in the regions of the climatic depressions
