X-ray fluorescence spectrometry on fabric masks commonly purchased during the pandemic

Description

At the end of 2019, an outbreak caused by SARS-CoV-2 appeared in Wuhan, a Chinese city. This global health emergency has considerably increased the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE). To contain the spread, the use of masks made of fabrics was encouraged in order to relieve the production of hospital face shields. Little is known about the damage suffered by fabric masks after decontamination, and an investigation is needed to assess the damages of the continued use of these PPE's. In this work, the applicability of EDXRF was evaluated to determine the integrity of masks made of fabric, after successive washings
